The Vanquish

The Vanquish was Aston Martin’s first flagship car of the 21st century and, as such, was suitably state-of-the-art.

The large, curvaceous body made use of exciting new technology to ensure a strong, stiff and light structure. The underside of the car was completely flat to aid high-speed aerodynamics.

Under the bonnet lay the same 6.0-litre V12 used in the DB7 Vantage, but uprated to 460bhp and 542Nm. The power went through a close-ratio, six-speed sequential manual transmission which boasted F1 style fingertip controls. This all meant that 62mph came in just five seconds, with the car powering on to a top speed of 190mph, making it a true supercar.

The Vanquish had a refreshingly modern interior, with aluminium and carbon fibre replacing the traditional Aston Martin wood. However, there was still plenty of high-quality leather and Wilton carpet to cosset the lucky inhabitants. The car was offered with a choice of two seats with a luggage space behind, or four seats, with the rears being ideal for children.
